Dudley exhibits champion beef performance

GREENFIELD – Jennifer Dudley of Stuart won the individual beef performance division at the 2017 Adair County Fair. She captured the overall individual competition with her pen steer that weighed 1,554 pounds at the fair and gained 4.08 pounds per day on test. Her entry graded prime, and had a yield grade of three with a rib eye area of 13.6. It produced $5.628 of retail value per day on feed. Dudley is the daughter of Alan and Brenda Dudley.

Brandon Raasch of Fontanelle took the reserve champion honors with his prime entry which produced $5.200 of retail value per day on feed. Dudley and Raasch earned special premiums provided by the Adair County Cattlemen for their entries.

Topping the open class beef performance competition was Eric Gross of Fontanelle. His 1,570 pound entry graded prime and was a USDA yield grade 3. It had a carcass value of $231.55/cwt to earn the championship spot. Alan Evans of Bridgewater earned the runner-up honors in the open class division. Kyra Evans of Bridgewater with one market steer and Eric Gross with two additional market steers rounded out the open class division.
