Dear GRMC providers and staff,
Over the past few weeks, we confirmed our planned expansion into three new southwest Iowa communities – Mount Ayr, Corning and Greenfield – with Greater Regional Medical Center (GRMC) clinic locations in those communities sometime in the future.
We have acquired property in these communities, and actual work will begin on the clinic locations as we finalize timelines for construction completion and clinic openings.
There has been some criticism of GRMC and our plans to have a presence within these additional communities and counties. Some have questioned our motives and suggested we are trying to displace existing medical services and locations in and around Mount Ayr, Corning and Greenfield.
Actually, our clinics will provide greater access and more choices, not the opposite.
Our goal is simple – GRMC wants to help ensure people have a choice in patient-centered, comprehensive, trustworthy and cost-effective health care services. We believe our communities, their citizens and the businesses located there benefit from greater access to quality care. We also believe access and choice are vital to quality, patient-centered health care. When people have a choice in health care, the quality of care and focus on patients continue to improve.
In the coming weeks, we’ll meet with elected officials from these communities to discuss our plans to invest in and support their communities now and for many years to come. We’ll also work with them to ensure individuals, families and businesses in these communities are aware of our providers and services, and our commitment to the health and well-being of the communities and region.
We’ll continue to provide detailed plans as they are finalized, and we’ll continue to invite dialogue with those who have questions and concerns about our expansion. Rest assured, we’ll always be as transparent and open as possible with our goals and plans to continuously improve health care in the region.
