Friends of the Library

Friends of the Library (FOL) met July 17 with the following members present, Starr Cure, Jessica Duncan, Judy Hoakison, Cari Jack, Bunny Norton, Kay Raymond, Julie Schieffer, Karen Walter, Ann Coulter and Library Director David Hargrove.

Two items were added to the agenda and the minutes were approved as corrected.

Coulter, library board of trustees, announced Steve Chamberlain is the newest board member. Save the date cards have gone out to all FOL past board members for the 20-anniversary event to be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Aug. 26 at the library.

Hargrove told FOL participation has been good for the summer library programs. The upcoming cemetery walk will be held Sept. 23. He is updating the library website. At the FOL anniversary party, Hargrove will give a brief history of the library followed by music, refreshments and fellowship.

Hargrove and Duncan will help at the Crest Ridge Estates library. Coulter could also help.

There was discussion about buying a canopy for the bake sale at the farmers market. Hoakison, Cure and Jack will call for baked items.

It was decided to keep membership fees the same this year. Membership kickoff will begin Aug. 1.

There will possibly be another work session to sort books in July.

These officers were elected for next year: Duncan, president; Walter, vice president; Emily Cook, treasurer; Jack, corresponding secretary and Facebook administrator and Raymond, recording secretary.

A scrapbooking event will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 3 in the genealogy room at the library. Space is limited to 10 people, ages 10-18 years old, for this free event. They are to bring six to eight pictures. Refreshments will be served. Barb Coenen will teach with assistance from Schieffer and Walter.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Aug. 21 at the library.

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary

Ladies Lakeshore Auxiliary met July 26.

Canasta winners were Linda Clark, first; Janet Kessler, second; and Mary Kline, third.

Joy Seeley won the door prize.

Loretta Kelly will host cards and chatter Wednesday, Aug. 2.
