Grassley fall internships available

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Sen. Chuck Grassley announced July 12 that fall internships for college-aged Iowans are available. Applications are due Friday, July 21.

These Senate internships are available in Grassley offices in Washington, D.C., Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Sioux City and Waterloo. The fall internship program runs from Aug. 21 to Dec. 15.

Interns assist staff members with administrative, legislative and communications work, including that of Grassley's staff on the Senate committee on the judiciary, where he serves as chairman. A firsthand account of a Grassley internship can be seen at www.grassley.senate.gov/sites/default/files/students/upload/Intern%20account%2C%207-7-15.pdf.

Grassley said he encourages young Iowans who are interested in learning more about the government to apply.

“Working in a congressional office is a good way for college students and new graduates to learn more about the legislative branch of the federal government while gaining valuable experience,” Grassley said. “Internships in my offices are available to students in many areas of study.”

Application forms are available on Grassley's Senate website at www.grassley.senate.gov/students/internships and in Grassley's offices in Iowa. Due to security-related delays in postal mail delivery to U.S. Senate office buildings, internship applications should be emailed to intern_applications@grassley.senate.gov or faxed to 202-224-5136. For additional information, send messages to intern_applications@grassley.senate.gov or call 202-224-3744.
