Emma Jean (Kauffman) Packnett, 75, of Creston died Sunday, July 9, 2017, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Crest View Amish Mennonite Church, northeast of Creston. Edward Headings, Leonard Headings, Gerald Hostetler and Clifford Kauffman will officiate. Burial will be in Crest View Amish Mennonite Cemetery, northeast of Creston. Open visitation with family present will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Crest View Amish Mennonite School, northeast of Creston. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Emma Jean (Kauffman) Packnett, daughter of Melvin and Mabel (Kropf) Kauffman, was born in Geneseo, Illinois, and at the age of 6, moved to Oregon where she grew up.

On Sept. 26, 1960, she married Charlie Franklin Packnett. After marriage, she moved to Illinois and then to Wisconsin. In December 1967, they moved to Oregon, and in 1973, she moved back to Wisconsin where she had an in-home daycare for 37 years. A final move to Creston was made in 2012.  

She was a member of Crest View Amish Mennonite Church.

Emma is survived by her husband; sons, Charles of Sac City, David (Sandra) of Afton and Samuel (Mirriel) of Hughesville, Missouri; daughter​ Cheril of Creston; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Loretta (wife of the late Alvin Kempf), Miriam (Larry Headings) and Eunice (Clifford Hostetler); brother-in-law Ken Headings and sister-in-law Beulah Kauffman.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers and two sisters, Curtis, Elva, Raymond, Glendon and Mary Lou.
