Union County Fair open textile, quilting department seeking entries

Union County Fair open textile and quilting department is seeking entries to be judged 1 p.m. Friday, July 21. Check-in time is from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursday, July 20, and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 21. There are classes for sewn clothing, all kinds of quilts and crocheted and knitted items with an entry fee of 50 cents each. Classes may be looked up at unioncountyfairiowa.com, The classes are the same as last year or bring handmade items and the department will help find a class for them. There are even classes for kids 14 years and younger.

At 6 p.m. Monday, July 24, is the popular, “Quilt Show and Tell Hour.” Bring a new or old quilt to share with the group, there is no limit and all are welcome to join in. Participants love to talk about their quilts and even more, they love to hear stories. The event is free to all and will be in the breezeway of the 4-H building.
