4-H program to benefit from silent auction

GREENFIELD – The Adair County 4-H program will be holding a silent auction again this year at the Adair County Fair. Bids will be accepted beginning at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, and will continue through 1 p.m. Sunday, July 23. If there are active bidders at the cut-off point, they will be allowed to continue to bid on the item for which they are competing.

The youth action committee is still soliciting items for the auction. At this time, auction items range from a red and gold quilted wall hanging honoring the 100th anniversary of Adair County Extension to vehicle oil changes, XL Zero Gravity Lounger, Canon tabletop calculator, electric ice cream freezer, coolers and picnic items, tie blankets, gift cards and gift certificates. Sports enthusiasts will want to check out the collector’s football from the Green Bay Packers and coupons for tickets to Kansas City Royals games, plus a signed photo from Minnesota Timberwolves. Organizers anticipate that there will be more than 75 items by the beginning of the silent auction including toy tractors and gift baskets.

Anyone wishing to donate to the silent auction to benefit 4-H can do so by contacting the Adair County Extension office at 641-743-8412 or by dropping the item off at the extension office before noon Tuesday, July 18.

The silent auction will benefit the Adair County 4-H youth program. The youth action committee raises money annually to support the many facets of the youth program including scholarships for youth to attend camp and conferences, entry fees for team events, recognition for record book completion and the many educational programs offered.
