Accidents

No citations were issued after an accident 11:40 a.m. May 19 at Hy-Vee.

According to a Creston Police report, Jason Robert Law, 47, of Creston, driving a 2007 Ford, was leaving a parking spot at Hy-Vee, located at 600 Sheldon St., and hit a parked 2008 Dodge while exiting the parking lot. Law said there was a vehicle was sticking out into the parking lot.

Damage estimates are $100 to both Law’s vehicle and the parked Dodge.

No citations were issued after an accident 12:23 a.m. May 21 near the intersection of West Adams and North Pine streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Dillon Wyatt Weis, 15, of Afton, driving a 2012 Dodge east on West Adams Street, drifted toward a row of parked vehicles and struck a 1990 Chevrolet, 2005 Toyota and 1996 Oldsmobile, all legally parked. All four vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Damage estimates are $4,000 each to Weis’ vehicle and the parked Chevrolet, Toyota and Oldsmobile.

Paul Raymond Harpin, 22, of Creston was cited for failure to obey a stop sign after an accident 6:40 a.m. May 25 near the intersection of North Birch and East Prairie streets.

According to a Creston Police report, Harpin, driving a 2000 Oldsmobile south on North Birch Street, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of North Birch and East Prairie streets and struck a 2007 Chevrolet driven west on West Prairie Street by Jasmine Jaylene Ellis, 24, of Creston. Harpin was at fault and issued a citation. Both vehicles had significant damage and were totaled. No injuries were reported.

Damage estimates are $8,000 to Harpin’s vehicle and $6,000 to Ellis’ vehicle.

Blake Alexander Stonehocker, 18, of Afton was cited for following too close after an accident 5:01 p.m. May 25 near the intersection of Highway 34 and Iris Avenue.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Stonehocker, driving a 1983 Chevrolet east on Highway 34, was distracted by rolling up his window, followed too close to get stopped in time and struck the rear of a 2008 Pontiac driven by Frankie Lynn Rice, 24, of Prescott, who had slowed to a stop to wait for a vehicle in front to turn north onto Iris Avenue.

Damage estimates are $1,500 to Stonehocker’s vehicle and $3,000 to Rice’s vehicle.

Erika Jo Alexander, 18, of Lucas was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway after an accident 7 a.m. May 26 near the intersection of 240th Street and Acorn Avenue.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Justin Raye Cook, 35, of Diagonal, driving a 2006 Ford west on 240th Street, tried to avoid a 2000 Dodge driven by Alexander, who turned in front of Cook off Acorn Avenue, but struck Alexander’s vehicle with the front of his vehicle. This caused Alexander to lose control and go into the north ditch.

Damage estimates are $4,000 to Alexander’s vehicle and $1,500 to Cook’s vehicle.
