Father-son Hannah team wins Best Ball crown

Central Iowa duo shoots 10-under par 134

The father-son duo of Terry Hannah of Redfield and Derek Hannah of Altoona shot 10-under par 134 on a pair of 67 rounds to win the 50th annual Crestmoor Invitational Best Ball Tournament last weekend.

Terry and Derek Hannah are the son-in-law and grandson, respectively, of Don and Helen Mosman of Creston.

The Hannah team held a one-shot lead over the Creston duo of Chad Dryden and T.J. Redding after Saturday’s 18 holes. The Hannahs shot 35-32 on Sunday’s nine holes for another 5-under 67 while Dryden and Redding shot 70 on Sunday.

The Creston team of Rick Carter and Jared Knutstrom shot 140 for a one-stroke margin over Tom Sedlock and Pat Bay for third place. Steve Moeller and Larry Wagner of Creston along with Doug North of Creston and Creston native Jason Borrall of Des Moines tied for fifth at 142.

A total of 48 teams participated in this year’s event. Leonard Leinbach of St. Joseph, Missouri, is the only golfer to compete in all 50 tournaments. Leinbach, now 81, teamed with Hubie Bailey to shoot 164 and win the E flight.
