Barry Lee Vetterick, 64, of Norwalk died Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Veteran’s Hospice in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 24, at New Life Lutheran Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow in Fontanelle Cemetery in Fontanelle. Visitation with family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, at O'Leary Funeral Services, 1020 Main St., in Norwalk. Online condolences may be left at www.olearyfunerals.com.

Barry Lee Vetterick, son of Melvin Lee and Virginia Louise (Bannister) Vetterick, was born Sept. 4, 1952. Barry graduated from Orient-Macksburg Community High School with the class of 1971. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he was stationed in Korea. Following the service, he earned his aircraft and power plant (AP) degree at Spartan Aeronautics in Topeka, Kansas.

On Oct. 4, 1980, Barry married Wanda Louise Sheriff at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fontanelle. Together they made their home in Norwalk. He worked for Des Moines Flying Services, later Signature Services, until his retirement in 2009. He then worked for five years as a bus driver for Norwalk Community School District.

Barry was a member of New Life Lutheran Church and Williamson American Legion Post 719.

Barry is survived by his wife Wanda of Norwalk; sons, Shawn (Athena) and their daughter, Harmony, of Royal City, Washington, and Christopher (Denae) and their children, Tytus and Aayla, of Norwalk; sister Patty (Roger) Roberts of Afton and a host of nieces, nephews and good friends.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents and sister in infancy, Carol Louise, in 1960.
