Area baseball roundup: Raiders and Timberwolves get offensive

Seymour 11,

Orient-Macksburg 9

SEYMOUR — Orient-Macksburg yielded a 5-1 lead by giving up seven runs in the bottom of the third in Tuesday’s 11-9 loss to Seymour.

“Dug ourselves too big of a hole to climb out, falling down 11-5,” Orient-Macksburg coach Drew Dornack said. “Had a chance, but couldn’t plate the runners to end it.”

Jackson Mikkelsen had a single and scored three times.

Dylan Nichols singled twice, knocked a double and reached on an error and crossed home twice for two runs.

Blake Sevier blasted two doubles and scored a run.

Triston Davidson took the loss on the hill.

Central Decatur 19,

Orient-Macksburg 9

ORIENT — Three Orient-Macksburg home runs were enough to stay in the game, but could not slow down Central Decatur as the Cardinals won 19-9 Wednesday.

Jackson Mikkelsen hit a solo homer. Dylan Nichols and Blake Sevier’s home runs were two-run shots as the Bulldogs put up four runs in each the third and fourth innings.

Mikkelsen had two hits, as did Sevier and Wiley Ray.

Central Decatur took advantage of a weakened Bulldog pitching staff in the fifth and scored eight runs to put away the game.

The Bulldogs had issues in the field, and flubbed the ball away for five errors and issued 14 walks or hit batters.

Noah Nichols took the loss for the Bulldogs.

Carter Boothe had just one hit but scored four times for the Cardinals. Tyke Walker Reached base five teams, which included a single, double, two walks and got hit by a pitch. He scored five times.

Mount Ayr 21,

Southwest Valley 11

MOUNT AYR — Mount Ayr walloped five home runs as Keelan Klommhaus hit two over the fence and drove in seven runs in a 21-11 victory Raider over Southwest Valley.

For the first time this season, Southwest Valley scored more than three runs. The Timberwolves stayed winless despite outscoring their season-best total by eight runs.

Zach Murphy’s 3-for-4 day with a home run, four RBIs and three runs scored was complemented by multi-hit performances by Hunter Haveman with four, Klommhaus with three, Erik Masoner, Tristan Holmes and Lucas Wurster all with two.

Isaac Grose and Masoner added home runs of their own.

The Timberwolves’ Jace Peterson, Teagan Lundquist and Scotty Adcock each drove in two runs.

Adcock, Peterson and Evan Davis each recorded two hits apiece.

Aiden Gaule went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base.

Klommhaus struck out seven batters.

Central Decatur 15,

Murray 0

LEON — The Murray Mustangs managed five hits in a 15-0, four-inning road loss at Central Decatur Monday.

Kenny Boles knocked two of the hits while Zane Black, Dustin Teas and Levi Snyder each added another.

Keagan Johnson took the loss for the Mustangs.
