Carter named CNA, OST sports editor

Kaleb Carter has been named the new sports editor at Creston News Advertiser and Osceola Sentinel-Tribune in Osceola.

Carter, 23, of Creston is a former sports reporter of the CNA and replaced Ryan Kronberg, former sports editor.

Carter is formerly of Jamestown, Ohio. He and Larry Peterson will be covering various sporting events in the local coverage areas.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to represent the area as the go-to sports voice for southwest and south-central Iowa,” Carter said.

Carter attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, graduating in April 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. He interned at Athens News in Athens for a summer, and worked as freelance reporter at HustleBelt.com, a Mid-American Conference blog, and staff writer at New Political, an online local political news source for four years.

Carter started as sports editor Monday.

“It’s been extremely enjoyable familiarizing myself with prep and collegiate sports in the area, and I look forward to continuing to provide exposure to our area athletes and the tremendous product they put on the field, court or activity of their choosing,” Carter said.

“One thing I’ve appreciated about the area since moving here is the connectedness of the athletes to the community and vice versa,” Carter continued. “They all have a vested interest in what goes on athletically around them. It’s something that excited me before my arrival and still excites me today.”
