Mary Ann Johnson, 90, of Creston died Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston with the Rev. Kenneth Halbur Jr. as celebrant. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 9, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery St., in Creston. Mary Ann Johnson, daughter of Joseph Tolbert and Julia Anne (Waters) Maeder, was born March 28, 1927, in Victoria Township in Cass County. Mary Ann attended Washington No. 2 country school in Adair County and graduated from Richland High School.

On Jan. 16, 1947, she married Richard Leroy Johnson at the Adair County Courthouse in Greenfield. Mary Ann was a farm wife and homemaker all of her adult life. She farmed with her husband in Lincoln Township in Union County and moved to town in the early 2000s. Mary Ann has resided at Homestead the last four years.

While in Greenfield, Mary Ann was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and later, transferred her membership to Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She was active on the Council of Catholic Women and a member of O.D.O. Neighborhood Club.

Mary Ann is survived by her sons, David R. Johnson of Creston, Harold D. (Pam) Johnson of St. Louis, Missouri, and Paul L. (Ann) Johnson of Creston; daughter-in-law Amy Patterson of Orient; grandsons, Matthew, Andy, Patrick, Clayton, Chad and Sam Johnson; granddaughters, Betsy Gale, Hanna Hayes and Emma Johnson; four great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mabel Cook of Salem, Oregon, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1997; son Russell Johnson; brothers, Jack, Burt, Earl and Vern Maeder; sisters, Alice Lents, Bertha Kembery and Ilene Maeder and infant grandson Seth Johnson.
