GREENFIELD – Empowering Adair County Foundation (EACF) awarded six grants totaling $30,467.58 for the final grant cycle of the 2016-17 term.

The following organizations and projects received funding:

• Stuart Chamber of Commerce – project: Stuart light pole banners

• Sunshine Day Care Center – project: New flooring

Grant applications were scored and reviewed by the EACF committee members. Applications were scored on the following criteria: completeness of application, benefit to Adair County residents, support of entrepreneurial activity, community and leadership development, identification of community needs and addressing community needs. The committee’s recommendations were sent on to the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines for final approval of grant disbursements.

EACF was formed in 2005 to coordinate and provide philanthropic support for community betterment and to enhance the quality of life for communities in Adair County. EACF is governed by a nine-member board representing all areas of the county. The EACF committee has decided to make changes in their grant application policies. From this point forward, there will be only one grant cycle with an application deadline of Oct. 15. All applications will be submitted electronically with fillable .pdf documents located on the homepage of Adair County ISU Extension website at www.extension.iastate.edu/adair. Currently the EACF portion of the website is under construction and will be completed the end of May. Another change in policy is that the final reports, required of grant recipients, will be completed digitally online and photos of the project must be provided with the completed report within six months of receiving grant funds.
