Carol McGuire

Carol McGuire, 59, of Thayer died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at her home near Thayer.

A celebration of life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the Roadside Bar and Grill in Arispe. Private family burial will be at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery south of Thayer. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be to Hospice of Central Iowa. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Carol Lynn McGuire, daughter of Lila Alberta (Beardsley) and Arnim Matthew McGuire, was born April 2, 1958, in Thayer. She graduated from East Union High School in 1976 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving stateside and overseas. She returned to her hometown to find that she could continue her military career by joining the Iowa Air National Guard.

During her career, she was deployed to various countries, which included Kuwait, Quatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and had served as part of Desert Shield.

She volunteered as a reading buddy at East Union elementary school and coached East Union High School girls basketball team as her health allowed.

Carol is survived by her Iowa and Vermont families and many friends.
