Seth Preston, 38, 402 S. Walnut St., was charged with possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance - mushrooms, possession with intent to sell or manufacture methamphetamine over five grams and possession of a controlled substance - marijuana 12:40 p.m. Tuesday on Laurel Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Preston was stopped for driving while suspended and was charged for that violation. Officers decided to tow Preston’s vehicle to obtain a search warrant for any controlled substances. Because of prior intelligence of illegal activity. Officers asked the female passenger to exit the driver’s seat when officers noticed two plastic bags laying on the floor by the driver’s seat. Both contained residue of what appeared to be methamphetamine. A subsequent search to arrest revealed a black zipper box which contained a large quantity of methamphetamine, mushrooms and bags. That was found in a bag of groceries that had been placed outside the car. Also found were a scale, bag of marijuana in the passenger door, marijuana pipe and several partially smoked marijuana cigarettes.

Preston was being held on $100,000 bond.

Joline Logan, 1001 S. Sumner Ave. Apt. 11, reported a fireproof safe was taken containing a silver bar, two diamond necklaces, three wedding rings, personal documents and other items sometime on Friday from her apartment.

Loss estimate is unknown.

An employee of Pizza Hut, 200 E. Taylor St., reported bank deposits went missing on April 8 and April 24.

Jonathan Selim, 211 N. Division St., reported that a three-gallon gas can full of gas was taken sometime between Friday and Tuesday from his residence.
