Andre Sewell, 46, of Stuart was charged with public intoxication 8:23 p.m. April 28 at the intersection of North Birch and Carpenter streets.

According to a Creston police report, Sewell was staggering and had difficulty standing and walking. Officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol as Sewell spoke. Sewell’s speech slurred and he admitted to drinking. Sewell consented to a Data Master test and had a blood-alcohol content well above .08. Officers received two complaints from citizens regarding Sewell’s staggering and falling down while along Vine and Birch streets.

Sewell was released on $300 bond.

Nicholas Braxton Shields, 24, 509 W. Irving St., was charged with four counts of third-degree burglary, first-degree theft, possession of a controlled substance, second-degree attempted burglary and first-degree criminal mischief 8:42 a.m. April 30 at 609 W. Taylor St.

According to a Creston Police report, Shields entered a suburban at Hi-Crest Auto, 707 S Vine St., looking for keys to steal the vehicle. Shields also entered a Cadillac looking for keys to steal the vehicle. Shields kicked the door in at Hi-Crest Auto and took the keys to a vehicle that was not his. Shields stole a vehicle from the buisness with a value exceeding $10,000.

Shields tried to enter the residence of Bill and Dorothy Shields without permission while they were present in their home. Shields broke the window out of a white cargo van at Hammer Medical Supply, 609 W. Taylor St., to get into the vehicle. Shields kicked in a door, damaging the frame, then crashed the vehicle through a rolling gate, damaging both the gate and the vehicle before smashing the window of the van. Shields had a small amount of a white crystalline substance in his vehicle, along with two needles.

Shields was being held on $10,000 bond.

Noble Murren, 24, of Lamoni was charged on a Union County warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of possession of a controlled substance 2:19 p.m., Wednesday at 300 N. Pine Courthouse

Jacob Jeffrey Fry, 34, 319 N. Jarvis St., was charged with parole violation 3:14 p.m., Thursday, in the 100 block of N. Elm St.

Fry was being held on no bond awaiting appearance by the judge.

Dustin Ray Kilgore, 37, 1503 N Lincoln St. Apt. 6, was charged on two warrants for probation violation 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of East Townline Road and North Cherry Street.

Kilgore was being held on two $5,000 bonds.

Chandy Rose Waldhauser, 21, of Lake City was charged with operating while intoxicated 2:36 a.m., Friday at the intersection of West Adams Street and New York Avenue.

According to a Creston Police report, Waldhauser was stopped for a headlight out and crossing the center line. Waldhauser showed signs of impairment and consented to a field sobriety test showing significant signs of impairment. Waldhauser had a preliminary breat test result above .08. Waldhauser consented to the Data Master test and had a test result above .08.

Waldhauser was released on $1,000 bond

Jason Wolfe, 508 S. Pine St., reported it appeared Creston City Pound had been broken into before 7:30 a.m. April 29 at 710 Lake Shore Drive. Investigation revealed between 5 and 7:30 a.m. April 29 locks on several kennels and the outside gate were damaged and four dogs were removed from the property.
