Bevins to sign as free agent with Cardinals

Published: Saturday, April 29, 2017 9:06 p.m. CDT

Northwest Missouri State defensive end Collin Bevins of Creston was not selected in the 2017 NFL Draft that concluded Saturday night, but accepted an offer from the Arizona Cardinals to join the team as a free agent.

During the seventh round of the draft, Bevins received a call from Cardinals officials who said even though the team did not have a selection in the final round, they were interested in Bevins if he was not drafted by another team. Bevins received the same offer from the Baltimore Ravens shortly after Arizona called, but decided to accept the Cardinals' offer.

Bevins will travel to Arizona early in the week to finalize the agreement and prepare for rookie mini-camp in early May.
