Lois Monday, 74, of Creston died Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Brian Jack will officiate. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Lois Marie (McNichols) Monday, daughter of Henry Paul McNichols and Gladys Lucille (Conklin) McNichols, was born Dec. 17, 1942, in Creston. She was educated in Creston and graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1961. Lois took classes as she needed to sell real estate, complete income taxes and sell insurance. She found her knack as a real estate broker and did so in the Creston area her whole life. She owned and operated Monday Realty Income Tax and Accounting Services in Creston for many years.

On Feb. 18, 1978, Lois married Jerry Allen Monday at the United Methodist Church in Creston. After 34 years together, Jerry died in 2012.

Lois was in her third term on the Union County Board of Supervisors. Lois was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Creston along with multiple organizations locally.

Lois is survived by her daughter Lesha (Jeff) Clark of Creston; sons, Timothy (Shelly) Leach of Creston and Taylor (Amanda) Monday of Iowa City; mother-in-law Doris Monday of Redding; grandchildren, Lara Vanderpluym, Jamie (Josh) Horton, Jenna (Josh) Greene, Jordan (Brandea) Leach and Aiden and Owen Monday; great-grandchildren, Brenton, Jonah, Jude, Cooper, Carver, Parker and Rylie; brothers, Wayne (Becky) McNichols, Gary (Carol) McNichols, all of Creston, and Ron (Julia) McNichols of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister Shirley Kimball of Beaumont, California; sister-in-law Teresa (Jack) Wilcox of Grant City, Missouri; along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, grandson Travis Vanderpluym, father-in-law Denzel Monday and brother-in-law Larry Kimball.
