WHAT ORGANIZATIONS DO YOU VOLUNTEER FOR? Southwest Iowa Hot Air Balloon Days, Creston Kiwanis Club, Creston Airport Commission
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART ABOUT VOLUNTEERING? Just being able to give back to the community, especially with Balloon Days to see other people in the community come out and be involved in an event and get some enjoyment out of it.
WHY DO YOU VOLUNTEER? I just feel like people are always asking for things from other people. I would prefer to give back to my community and try to help it be a better place, whether it's directly helping people or putting on an event. Something to better the community.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN VOLUNTEERING? I've been on Balloon Days for 11 years, but I've been on Kiwanis since probably about 1989 or so. I don't know how long I've been on the airport commission, probably about eight years.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE EVENT TO VOLUNTEER AT? It really is Balloon Days. Just gives me a lot of satisfaction. I think it's good for the community. It's a nice time of the year. It gets people out and about and brings a lot of people into town, too.
WHY IS VOLUNTEERING IMPORTANT FOR THE COMMUNITY? There's just a lot of groups and organizations that do a lot of good things for the community, a lot of them I'm not involved in, that wouldn't exist without people volunteering. People always want things done, but if people don't volunteer to do it, it's not going to get done. Sometimes it''s unfortunately a lot of the same people volunteering when there's some who don't get involved. If we could get some of those people involved, everybody could help out a little bit instead of some people a whole bunch.
