Cynthia McCloud, 65, of Creston died Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Greg Sargent of Kansas City will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Cynthia Lorraine McCloud, daughter of Harold Leroy McCloud and Emma Mae (Sandveit) McCloud, was born Dec. 13, 1951, in Baudette, Minnesota. Cynthia was educated at Lake of the Woods School in Baudette, Minnesota, and graduated in 1970. After graduation, Cynthia resided in Sharpsburg, moving to Creston in 2010. Cyndi took classes at Southwestern Community College for CNA and obtained her certificate. She was employed at Lenox Care Center where she worked for many years as a CNA and in the dietary department. She was a caregiver for many people in their homes while they were sick.

While recovering at a rehab center in Des Moines, Cyndi met Michael Smith. Michael and Cyndi were to be married, but her health declined and the wedding had to be postponed.

Cyndi is survived by her fiancé Michael Smith of Des Moines; mother Emma McCloud of Creston; brothers, Jeff (Judy) McCloud of St. Joseph, Missouri, Greg (Belinda) McCloud of Denton, Texas, and Mark McCloud of Rocky Mound, North Carolina; sisters, Belinda (Kevin) Lindley of Creston, Sherry (Lee) Newport of Grand Island, Nebraska, Patty (Ken) Mottin of Grand Island, Nebraska, Kitty (Randy) Peterman of Gravity and Sandra Donaldson (Jere Ferguson) of Lenox; along with many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her father Harold McCloud, brother-in-law John Donaldson, nephew Clinton McCloud and great-nephews, Carter and Kaleb Zellmer.
