Shirley J.H. (Jean Hutchison) Nook, 87, died Monday, April 10, 2017, at Clearview Homes in Clearfield.

Funeral celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at Lenox United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Shaffer officiating. Visitation with family present will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Memorials may be given in Shirley’s name. Online condolences may be left at www.ritchiefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were entrusted to Ritchie Funeral Home, 124 S. Main St., in Lenox.

Shirley Jean Hutchison, daughter of Frank Hutchison and Marjorie (Marge) Twaddle Hutchison, was born Sept. 12, 1929, near Coin. Shirley graduated from Coin High School in 1947. After graduation, she attended normal training at Maryville Teacher’s College. She taught school in Page and Taylor counties which included Shambaugh, Pioneer Park, New Market and Guss.

On July 1, 1953, she married Dwight Ernest Nook. They lived most of their lives in Lenox. Shirley was a housewife and mother.

Shirley taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and was a member of United Methodist Church Women’s Circle. 

Shirley is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dwight; daughter, Teresa of Villisca; sons, Bill of New Market and Frank (Julie) of Prior Lake, Minnesota; grandchild Christian Nook of Maryville, Missouri; sisters, Marlene Madden of Pella and Janice Shelton of Belton, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, brother Arthur and three infant children.
