Melissa Driskell of the Creston Community High School prom committee released the following information regarding Saturday’s prom.
Pictures will be taken from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at Maple Street Memories in Creston. Those pictures will include prom servers and all juniors and seniors attending prom.
New this year, the grand march will not take place inside the CCHS gym, but will take place at the main entrance of the school.
The grand march begins at 6 p.m., when the first car will be unloaded at the high school.
“We will have a minimal number of bleachers, but we will have bleachers there,” Driskell said. “People can bring their own chairs if they want. We are calling the outside where they walk up the red carpet the grand march. Kids will be interviewed on the red carpet before they go into the high school. There will be lots of photo opportunities. We are encouraging kids to take their time walking up the red carpet.”
The public will not be allowed entry into the high school under any circumstances. Restrooms will be available at the football field for the public during the grand march.
The grand march is expected to end around 7:30 or 7:45 p.m., with dinner for the prom attendees beginning at 8 p.m.
The dance runs from 9 to 11:30 p.m., with Crestubilee running from midnight to 5 a.m.
“For the grand march, we are asking people to park at the church across the street or on the side streets as Townline will be blocked off between Spruce and Sycamore streets,” Driskell said. “The times are exactly as they have always been. The biggest change is it’s an outside grand march and no public will be allowed inside the school under any circumstances.”
