Wayne Bohn, 91, of Mount Ayr died Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Mount Ayr Health Care Center.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr. The Rev. Bill Armstrong will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Diagonal Cemetery. Memorials may be made to United Church of Diagonal. Wayne Cecil Bohn, son of John Daniel Bohn and Elma Lydia Lou (Gilliland) Bohn, was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Lamoni. He attended country school in Ringgold County.

On June 15, 1950, he married Irene Marie Todd. They made their home in rural Diagonal and Kellerton where Wayne farmed, until they moved to Fort Madison in 1956. After moving to Fort Madison, Wayne began working as a prison guard for the Iowa State Penitentiary. He continued working there for more than 30 years.

In July 1992, they moved to Mount Ayr where they maintained a home. Wayne moved to Mount Ayr Heath Care Center in 2008.

Wayne is survived by his sister-in-law Janice Richman of Mercer, Missouri; nephews, Frank (Joan) Gunsolley of Diagonal and Byron (Charlotte) Gunsolley of Maryville, Missouri; nieces, Joy (Jim) Goins of Diagonal and Linda (Eldon) Starmer of Creston; special friend Betty Haney; many great-nieces and -nephews and extended family.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irene in 2013; brother Bill Bohn; sisters, Clela Gunsolley and Wuanita Bohn, in infancy; brother-in-law Gene Gunsolley and special friend Cecil Haney.
