Cameron Murphy, 38, of Lakewood, Colorado, was charged with operating while intoxicated, felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance 3:30 a.m. March 11 at 800 W. Taylor St.

According to a Creston Police report, Murphy was stopped for throwing a firecracker at a semi-truck and trailer. During the stop, he showed signs of impairment. Murphy refused all testing but showed significant signs of impairment and admitted he should not have been operating a vehicle and was a danger to himself and others on the roadway.

He was taken to Union County Law Enforcement Center for further testing. While at the law center, a small bag with residue was discovered in his wallet. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine.

His vehicle was towed and during an inventory of the vehicle a .40-caliber Kahr pistol was found in the driver’s door beside where Murphy had been seated.

Murphy was released on $5,000 bond.

Derik Wayne Bud Pickrell, 32, of Fontanelle was charged with driving while license is denied or revoked 10:05 p.m. March 15 in the 1500 block of West Townline Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Pickrell was driving a red pickup west in the 1500 block of West Townline Street, where he was stopped for a headlight out. During the traffic stop, it was determined his license was revoked for OWI test failure. Pickrell was charged.

Pickrell was released on $1,000 bond.

Gabriel George Looney, 40, 2073 Willow Ave., was charged with operating while intoxicated 1:01 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 34 and Cromwell Road.

According to a Creston Police report, Looney was stopped for traffic offenses. During the stop, he showed significant signs of impairment and consented to a field sobriety test. Looney showed significant signs of impairment during the standard field sobriety testing and refused a preliminary breath test.

Looney was transported to Union County Law Enforcement Center, where he consented to the DataMaster testing and had a blood-alcohol content well above .08.

Looney was released on $1,000 bond.

John Michael Burgoyne, 39, of Greenfield was charged on a Union County warrant for second-degree theft 9:33 a.m. March 16 at Union County Law Enforcement Center.

According to a Creston Police report, at 8 a.m. Feb. 28, Burgoyne wrote checks on an account he knew to be closed for merchandise totalling $1,281.86. Burgoyne attempted to return the merchandise for cash but was denied.

Burgoyne was released on $5,000 bond.

Lucas Clark, 21, 604 S. Poplar St., was charged with public intoxication 1:30 a.m. March 18 at 301 W. Adams St.

According to a Creston Police report, Clark was intoxicated in a public place while outside a local business in the 300 block of West Adams Street. Clark was involved in a physical altercation and argued with officers while they were trying to investigate the incident. Clark consented to a DataMaster test and a had a blood-alcohol content well above .08.

Clark was released on $300 bond.

Jason Michael Carleton, 37, 507 S. Pine St., was charged with public intoxication 1:30 a.m. March 18 at 301 W. Adams St.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to the 300 block of West Adams Street to a fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Carleton. Carleton appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Carleton had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

Carleton was released on $300 bond.

Jeffrey Eric Hicks Jr., 21, 404 N. Birch St., was charged with public intoxication 1:30 a.m. March 18 at 301 W. Adams St.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were called to the 300 block of West Adams Street to a fight. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Hicks. Hicks appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Hicks had bloodshot, watery eyes and slurred speech.

Hicks was released on time served.

Ronald Brammer, 54, of Afton was charged with driving while suspended 12:40 a.m. March 19 at the intersection of North Sumner Avenue and West Mills Street.

Brammer was released on $300 bond.

Robert Richard Johnston, 47, 266 Highway 169, was charged with possession of paraphernalia, driving while barred, operating while intoxicated and third-offense possession of a controlled substance 9:30 p.m. March 20 at the intersection of South Sumner Avenue and West Taylor Street.

According to a Creston Police report, officers observed a gold Ford passenger car bearing an Iowa license plate registered to a white Ford. The driver and only occupant was showing physical signs consistent with methamphetamine use. The driver was identified as Johnston by his Iowa ID card and had a current status of barred.

Johnston admitted to recent drug use and failed to produce valid insurance. Johnston gave verbal consent to a search of the vehicle. Officers performed standard field sobriety testing and other officers located a small bag of a white, crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine hidden and seven syringes in the vehicle.

Johnston was charged and transported to Union County Law Enforcement Center, where he refused to give a urine sample. The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. Johnston has three or more previous convictions for possession of a controlled substance.

Johnston was released on $5,000 bond.

Casey Claiser, 34, 310 S. Maple St., was charged with allowing an animal to run at large 2:46 p.m. Tuesday at 708 Lake Shore Drive.

Claiser was cited and released.

Adam Edward Lee Austin, 19, 703 W. Jefferson St., was charged with second-offense public intoxication 3:09 a.m. today at 402 N. Cherry St.

According to a Creston Police report, officers were dispatched to the 400 block of North Cherry Street to investigate a report of an intoxicated person in the area. Upon arrival, officers found Austin walking on the sidewalk. Austin attempted to run from officers when they approached. Austin was then detained and he showed signs of impairment, including unsteady balance and slurred speech.

Austin admitted to officers he drank approximately six beers and submitted to a preliminary breath test, which indicated his blood-alcohol content was more than .08. Austin was charged and transported to Union County Law Enforcement Center. Upon further records check, it was determined Austin had been convicted of a prior public intoxication.

Austin was being held on $1,000 bond.

A member of Knights of Columbus of Creston reported between March 3 and 13, the checking account information was hacked and four checks were printed in four different states to four different individuals, with two of the checks cashed.

Loss estimate is $3,970.34.
