Arlene Madison, 86, of Creston died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at her home in Creston.
Graveside services and burial were held at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. The Rev. Delores Doench officiated. No public visitation was held. Memorials can be given to St. John's United Church of Christ in Creston. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.
Virginia Arlene Madison, daughter of Chester Peter and Edna N. (Albrite) Bryson, was born July 7, 1930, in Hepburn in Page County. Arlene graduated from Bedford High School in 1949.
On Dec. 25, 1948, she married Robert Lee Madison in Bedford, where they settled for a short time before moving near Prescott.
In 1959, Arlene moved to Creston and began working as a school cook at Franklin Elementary School. She retired after 30 years, but continued to help out and volunteer in kindergarten classes for nine years.
Arlene was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Creston.
Arlene is survived by her daughters, Linda (Jim) Randall of Mondamin, Kathy Madison and Jan (Bob) Cottrell of Creston; son Robert Madison Jr. (significant other Julie Hover) of Creston; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Madison in 1992; sisters, Mae Bryson, Ora Connell and Mary Lou Gordon and brothers, Charlie and Harold Bryson.
