Kharlice D. Anderson, 24, of Cedar Rapids was charged with possession of marijuana 2:34 a.m. March 7 in Adair County.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, officers conducted a traffic stop at the 75-mile marker on Interstate 80. The vehicle was stopped for exceeding the speed limit, doing 90 miles per hour in a 70-mph zone. When officers approached the passenger side window, they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers asked the driver to exit the vehicle. Officers then told the driver they smelled the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and asked if there was marijuana somewhere in the vehicle. The driver said there was and that it was located underneath the passenger seat.

Officers then approached the vehicle and advised the passenger, Anderson, to exit the vehicle. Officers asked Anderson if there was any marijuana in the vehicle and he said there was a bag of marijuana underneath the passenger seat. Anderson said they had visited Colorado and while there purchased several packages of marijuana from a dispensary. Anderson took full responsibility for the marijuana and said the driver was aware of the marijuana but that it belonged to him.

Anderson was released on $1,000 bond.

Junior Romain Hicks, 24, of Fontanelle was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia 9:11 p.m. March 7 in Adair County.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, officers initiated a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Highway 25. The vehicle was stopped for excessive speed, doing 71 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone and failure to maintain a lane. The vehicle was a white 2001 Saturn with Iowa license plates. Upon approach to the driver’s window, officers could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Officers asked the driver if there was a reason he was unable to maintain a lane and he said no. Officers then observed a marijuana grinder and marijuana on the driver’s floorboard. Officers asked the driver if he was trying to roll a marijuana cigarette and if that was why he was unable to maintain a lane. The driver admitted he was.The driver was identified as Hicks. Hicks was asked to exit the vehicle. Hicks was then charged. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and found no further evidence.

Hicks was released on $1,000 bond.

Alex Robert Coyle, 24, of Bagley, Minnesota, was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief 10:06 p.m. March 8 in Adair County.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, Coyle intentionally struck a wall with his fist, causing more than $200, but less than $500, of damage.

Coyle was released on $1,000 bond.

Jason Eugene Henderson, 37, of Winterset was charged on a Madison County warrant 4:06 p.m. March 9 in Adair County.

Henderson was transferred to the custody of Madison County Sheriff.

Duane Allen Funke, 50, of Bridgewater was charged with possession of methamphetamine, third-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal mischief and trespassing 7:20 p.m. March 9 in Adair County.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, Funke parked inside a garage and shut the garage door in an attempt to hide the vehicle. Funke broke into the residence through the porch window, damaging the window. Funke said he had been staying at the residence at night off and on since December. Funke said he arrived March 9 after dropping a female off in Stuart, parked the vehicle inside the garage, the door was then closed and said he removed from the unoccupied structure bleach, soap, a toaster basket and glass object.

Funke was caught inside the basement of the residence by law enforcement. Funke also urinated and defecated on the basement floor. He originally said he only entered the residence to defecate out of the wind by bypassing sheds and a barn with unsecured doors to break entry into a window at shoulder height.

Funke was taken into custody. Upon a search of his person, Funke had a small container in his front right pocket. Funke admitted to the container having methamphetamine located inside.

Funke was being held on $5,000 bond.
