Creston Middle School hosted the annual Solo and Small Ensemble Contest Saturday, Feb. 23. Seven surrounding schools visited to be rated by music educators from across the state.
There were a total of 228 students participating in the event. Each judge selected an “outstanding soloist” from their center. Creston students are students of Ryan and Audrey Linke and received six of the seven awards.
“We are very lucky that we are able to host this event,” said Audrey. “We are incredibly proud of the students and their dedication to music.”
Outstanding soloists are:
Center 1: flute - Unity Anderson of Creston
Center 2: oboe - Sophia Broers of Nodaway Valley
Center 3: saxophone - Garett Burkhalter of Creston
Center 4: trumpet - Adam Pettit of Creston
Center 5: baritone - Jacob Zachary of Creston
Center 6: vocal - Brance Baker and Korbyn Ringer of Creston
Center 7: percussion - Haley Simmons of Creston
