Samuel Naomi, 90, of Tingley died Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, as the result of an auto accident.

Private graveside services will be held in Tingley Cemetery in Tingley. Armstrong Funeral Home, 205 W. Monroe St., in Mount Ayr is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.

Sam, son of Joseph and Anna Naomi, was born March 3, 1926. Sam served his country during the Korean War. In later years, he was active in KWVA Chapters.

Sam was a conductor, and then a conductor instructor for the Chicago and North Western Railroad.

On Oct. 1, 1983, Sam married Karon (Kirk). After living and retiring in Des Moines, Sam and Karon moved to Tingley in 1989. Sam was a former member of the Tingley Volunteer Fire Department and fire chief. He was also active in Tingley Lions and was a past-president.

Sam is survived by his wife, Karon, of Tingley and daughter, Teresa Brauer, and granddaughter, Kayla Brauer, both of Ankeny.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, son Samuel Naomi Jr. and his four siblings.
