MOUNT AYR — Samuel Naomi, 90, of Tingley died after a vehicle accident and fire 2:45 p.m. Monday in Ringgold County.
According to a Ringgold County Sheriff report, Naomi was southbound on Highway 169 near 160th Street when his vehicle left the roadway and went into the west ditch. The vehicle came to rest at the bottom of the ditch and caught fire shortly after. The vehicle was a total loss.
Causes of the accident and fire are unknown at this time.
Naomi was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the State of Iowa Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Assisting in the investigation were Ringgold County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Ayr Fire Department, Ringgold County Ambulance, Tingley first responders, Ringgold County Medical Examiner and Watson Armstrong Funeral Home.
