COON RAPIDS — One of the more memorable seasons in recent memory for Diagonal girls basketball came to an end in Coon Rapids at the hands of Glidden-Ralston Friday 64-41 to advance to the Class 1A Region 8 finals.
The Widcats kept the Maroonette offense in check, forcing Diagonal into a bad shooting performance of 12-of-59 (20.3 percent).
Kasydi Klommhaus led Diagonal with 16 points but it took her 19 shots to get there.
Emily Newton scored eight points on 3-of-13 shooting and had eight rebounds.
Erin Sobotka and Allison Norris both scored five points.
The game brought to an end the careers of Klommhaus, Norris, Jaci Haidsiak, Grace Hall and Cassidy Becker.
