District basketball roundup (Feb. 17): Wins for Lenox and Southwest Valley, Mount Ayr falls out

Lenox 74, Bedford 66

TABOR — Kaleb Anderson scored 17 points to lead three Lenox players in double figures as the Tigers disposed of Taylor County rival Bedford, 74-66, in the Class 1A District 14 quarterfinals Thursday night.

Anderson also had seven assists and four steals for Lenox, now 8-14. Dawson Tullberg contributed 16 points, five assists and four steals. Sam Donaldson had a double-double in his return to the Tigers lineup with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Colton Gordon tallied nine points and Cole Johnston finished with seven points and 12 rebounds. Trey Whipple grabbed seen rebounds while scoring five points.

Brennan Sefrit led Bedford with 18 points. Joel King added 17, Cooper Nally had 14, Quentin Sefrit finished with nine and Johnny Carlson chipped in eight points as the Bulldogs bow out at 10-12.

Lenox (8-14) faces host Fremont-Mills in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Knights (17-5) defeated Clarinda Academy Thursday, 95-58.

Southwest Valley 46, Sidney 39

STANTON — Chance Cobb scored 18 points to lead Southwest Valley to a 46-39 victory over Sidney in a Class 1A District 14 quarterfinal game Thursday night.

Cobb also had three steals. Grant Mauer added 10 points for the Timberwolves (12-10) who face Stanton (19-3) in the semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Tabor, Fremont-Mills. Stanton defeated East Mills, 40-38.

Scott Palmer added eight points and three steals for Southwest Valley. Wyatt McAlpin had five points, four rebounds and two steals.

Ankeny Christian Academy 73, Mount Ayr 51

ANKENY — Ankeny Christian Academy defeated Mount Ayr, 73-51, in Class 1A District 13 action Thursday night.

Ankeny Christian meets Earlham at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Nodaway Valley High School before East Union and Grand View Christian face in the other semifinal.
