Lorene Means, 90, of Creston died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Lorene Elizabeth Means, daughter of Mollie Eller (Martin) and Marcus Janeway, was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Gown, Oklahoma. Lorene attended Edgewood High School in Edgewood, Colorado. Lorene worked for a potato chip factory, as well as, volunteering in a U.S.O. club for a short time.

On Feb. 9, 1944, Lorene married Robert Harrison Means in Denver, Colorado. They settled in Sarasota, Florida, until the completion of Bob’s military service.

In December 1945, Lorene moved back to Creston where she worked a variety of jobs at the Chicken Inn, and also filled in at area cafes, a photography business in Missouri and was an active mother and homemaker.

Lorene was an active member of Eagles Lodge No. 1398, where she served in many different rolls including district chairman until 2008. She also volunteered at Greater Regional Hospital for many years.

Lorene is survived by her grandchildren, Delora Beal, Julia Beal and Raymond Beal; great-grandsons, Michael and Steven Beal and one great-great-grandson.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and daughter, Dorene Beal.
