Habitat for Humanity benefit dance scores big hit

Published: Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 10:45 a.m. CDT

On Saturday evening, Feb. 11, 110 friends of Habitat for Humanity gathered at the Chicken Inn to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money for house No. 8. House No. 8 is being built by members of Habitat for Humanity of Union County at 908 W. Adair St. in Creston.

Everyone danced the night away. The total received by Habitat was just over $2,500. The Chicken Inn provided the “best dance floor in Southwest Iowa,” Coon Ridge Country Band brought their fine music, Hy-Vee donated three dozen roses which were sold to folks wanting to provide something special for their sweethearts and publicity was provided with the help of Thrivent Financial, KSIB Grapevine, Creston News Advertiser and flyers printed by Bill Oetkin and his crew of Office Machines.

Habitat plans to repeat this event next year on Valentine’s Day and hopes even more people can come enjoy a great time for a good cause.
