Money workshop series for women offered

A local committee is planning Money Talk, a series of five workshops designed for women. The committee includes Haley Jones, Greg Driskell, Mindy Stalker, Staci Heaberlin and Kim Baker.

“This program is designed for women to improve their money management skills and level of financial knowledge. Participants develop confidence in decision making and gain control of their finances,” said Sandra McKinnon, human sciences specialist in family finance.

The program is strictly educational and covers the topics of budgeting, recordkeeping, insurance, estate planning, credit, debt management, investing and preparing for retirement. Each participant receives a financial workbook.

The series will be offered on Thursday evenings starting March 2 at Greater Regional Medical Center (GRMC) in Creston. Registration deadline is Feb. 20. Instructors include McKinnon and local professionals.

“To keep the registration fee low, the county extension council is supporting the program with additional contributions from First National Bank, GRMC and Iowa State Savings Bank,” McKinnon said.
