Karen Brodsack, 45, 402 N. Division St., was charged with fourth-degree theft 7:09 p.m. Wednesday at Union County Law Enforcement Center.

According to a Creston Police report, 1:20 p.m. Oct. 30, Brodsack went to Wal-Mart, 806 Laurel St., loaded a cart full of merchandise and left the store without paying for the items. The total amount was $235.15.

Brodsack was released on $1,000 bond.

Lela Ann Churchwell, 37, 1501 N. Lincoln St., was charged on a Union County warrant for failure to appear 5:03 p.m. Friday at Union County Law Enforcement Center.

Churchwell was released on $1,000 bond.

Jared James Wilmeth, 32, 701 W. Jefferson St. Apt. 4, was charged with domestic abuse by strangulation and child endangerment with bodily injury 11:18 p.m. Friday at his residence.

According to a Creston Police report, Wilmeth did assault a female victim by placing his hands around her neck and choking her. Wilmeth also punched her in the eye, causing swelling and bruising.

During the altercation between Wilmeth and the female, a minor child was injured and sustained bodily injury directly because of the acts of Wilmeth. The child sustained a bloody nose and marks to the side of the face.

Wilmeth was being held on $5,000 bond.

Elsie Giles, 510 W. Buckeye St., reported her purse containing a wallet, ID cards, medicines and other items was taken during an unknown time from her vehicle while it was parked at her residence.

Loss estimate is $22.
