Accidents

No citations were issued following an accident 2:27 p.m. Sunday on Highway 25.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Jennifer Rene Vandeboe, 23, of Fontanelle, driving a 2003 Pontiac northbound on Highway 25, said she lost control of her vehicle on a patch of ice, the vehicle entered the ditch and came to rest on the passenger side. Vandeboe exited the vehicle and was taken to Greater Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle with possible injuries.

Damage estimates are $5,000 to Vandeboe’s vehicle and $200 to a fence owned by Jeff Tussey.

Dakota James Morrison, 19, of Truro was issued a citation for failure to provide proof of insurance following an accident 2:02 p.m. Saturday on Cherry Street Road.

According to a Union County Sheriff report, Morrison, driving a 2005 Chevrolet, was traveling south when he lost control because of snowy road conditions. The vehicle entered the ditch, rolled over and came to rest on its passenger side. No injuries were reported.

Damage estimate is $5,000 to Morrison’s vehicle.

No citations were issued following an accident 5:06 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 34 and South Lincoln Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Jessica Lynn Vanik, 27, of Gravity, driving a 2007 Ford tried to stop behind two other vehicles but ran into the vehicle in front of her, a 1997 Jeep driven by Jacob Logan Hitz, 17 of Creston, whose vehicle then hit the vehicle in front of him, a 2003 Chevrolet driven by James David Malone, 72, of Clearfield. Vanik could not stop her vehicle because of the roads being slick from freezing rain.

One possible injury, a complaint of pain or injury, was reported by Malone.

Damage estimates are $3,000 to Vanik’s vehicle, $3,000 to Hitz’ vehicle and $1,000 to Malone’s vehicle.
