Energy assistance available from Alliant Energy

Energy assistance can help pay heating bills or weatherize your home.

For income guidelines, call 1-866-674-6327 or visit iowa.gov. Alliant Energy encourages customers to apply now because funds for this heating season are limited.

Eligibility for energy assistance is not affected by utility account or home-ownership status. If you get behind on your energy bill, call and Alliant will work with you. They are available at 1-800-255-4268 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is important to keep current on payments during the winter so you’re not behind in the spring.

Learn about energy-assistance programs for low-income families, including the Hometown Energy Fund, Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), weatherization and gift certificates.

The federally funded LIHEAP helps qualifying households with the costs of energy used for home heating and cooling. MATURA Action Corporation Family Development Center, 207B N. Elm St., in Creston can provide assistance. Call 641-782-8431 from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

The Weatherization Assistance Program helps reduce the heating and cooling costs for low-income families by improving energy efficiency of their homes. More information is available at MATURA.
