Lottie Riley, 92, of Creston, formerly of Afton, died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.

Celebration of life memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Jim Morris will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, east of Afton. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Lottie Mae Bryant Riley, daughter of Margaret (Kay) Bryant and Noah Willard Bryant, was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Creston. She was educated in Union County country schools.

On Dec. 20, 1942, Lottie married LeRoy “Bud” Riley near Lenox. They first settled in Des Moines, where she worked as a homemaker. In 1954, they moved to a farm north of Afton, where they farmed together. Lottie worked at Callison Grocery in Afton and continued later with new owners at Sinn Grocery. She and Bud worked for many years with Union County Fair. They moved to Creston in 1999. Bud died in February 2004. Lottie continued to live and work independently.

Lottie was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Creston and was active with Afton United Methodist Church before moving to Creston. She was active with Union County Fair Board, Afton Friendly Circle and Sociable Sals.

Lottie is survived by her daughter-in-law Diane Riley of Creston; grandchildren, Jodi Riley of Creston and Jason (Denise) Riley of Afton; great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Riley and Danielle, Cassidy and Alexandria Riley; brother-in-law Junior Dillenburg of Creston and sisters-in-law, Mary Bryant of Lenox and Katy Bryant.

Lottie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; sons, Larry in 1961 and Lonny in 2016; sisters, Mildred, Alberta Mellow and Lucille Dillenburg and brothers, Willard “Bud,” Paul and Robert Bryant.
