Donald Brown

Donald Brown, 62, of Rochester, Minnesota, formerly of Creston, died Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2016, at Mayo Medical Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Aaron Wager will officiate. Burial will be in Murray Cemetery in Murray. Visitation with family present will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, prior to the service. Memorials can be directed to the family.  Military rites will be given by Theodore J. Martens Post No. 1797 of the Creston V.F.W.  Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Donald Louis Brown, son of Leland C. Brown and Myrtle Velva (Smith) Brown, was born March 4, 1954, in Leon.  Donald attended East Union Community Schools and later attended Southwestern Community College, receiving extended training in robotics. Don served in the United States Air Force. Early on, Don worked as a manager of Happy Chef in Creston.

On Sept. 1, 1978, Donald Brown married Jotie Lynn Wicks in Des Moines. They settled in Conway, where Don worked as a service technician for Bi State Electronics for seven years. Don later worked as an industrial electrician, first at Wellman Dynamics in Creston and later for West Liberty Foods in Mount Pleasant.

Donald is survived by his wife, Jotie; children, Sarah (Steve) Epperson of Ranson, West Virginia, Joshua (Jennifer) Brown of Ankeny, Bethany Brown (significant other Luke Wayman) of Des Moines and Jordan Brown (Branden Wager) of Rochester, Minnesota; 10 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brother Richard (Janet) Brown of Creston and sisters, Mary Anderson of Bovey, Minnesota, and Margaret Hawxby of Bland, Missouri.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Myrtle Brown.
