3 Bridgewater residents charged following investigation

GREENFIELD — James Jeffrey Reese, Toni Lynn Reese and Shane Sim Blackford were charged on Adair County warrants after a lengthy investigation by Adair County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release sent Monday, the investigation culminated in three search warrants being executed Sept. 22 in Bridgewater. After examining all physical evidence seized and other relevant information, complaints alleging 18 criminal violations were filed and arrest warrants for five individuals were obtained.

There are currently outstanding warrants for Julie Ann Holmes and Duane Allen Funke.

James, 61, of Bridgewater was charged on an Adair County warrant for ongoing criminal conduct via criminal networking, gathering where controlled substances are used and second-offense possession of a controlled substance.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, during the execution of a search warrant at James’ residence, a methamphetamine pipe and glass jar with methamphetamine were located in James’ bedroom. A methamphetamine pipe was also located in each bedroom of the other residents, as well as there being several methamphetamine pipes in the living room. James has also made property at 319 N. Main St. and 402 N. Main St. in Bridgewater available to a criminal network for the storing of stolen property on a continuing basis. Property determined to be stolen was recovered at James’ residence, having been possessed by Blackford, Mark Steil and Holmes, all of which are tenants of James’ residence.

Toni, 53, of Bridgewater was charged on an Adair County warrant for ongoing criminal conduct via criminal networking, gathering where controlled substances are used, control of a firearm or offensive weapon by a felon, and third- or subsequent-offense possession of a controlled substance.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, during the execution of a search warrant, a methamphetamine pipe and glass jar with methamphetamine were located in Toni’s room. A methamphetamine pipe was also located in each bedroom of the other residents, as well as there being several methamphetamine pipes in the living room.

Also, a .243-caliber rifle, lever-action rifle, 12-gauge shotgun, 16-gauge shotgun and .22-caliber rifle were all located underneath Toni’s bed. Toni openly admitted to possessing the firearms and asked for the return of the firearms. Toni also admitted to having the firearms before they were burned by a house fire. Property determined to be stolen was recovered at Toni’s residence, having been possessed by Blackford, Mark Steil and Holmes.

Blackford, 25, of Bridgewater was charged on an Adair County warrant for ongoing criminal conduct via unlawful activity, gathering where controlled substances are used and second-degree theft.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, during the execution of a search warrant, a methamphetamine pipe was located on the nightstand in Blackford’s bedroom. Also, stolen property was subsequently recovered: a water heater valued at $1,200 and Hotsy pressure water valued at $3,250.

Holmes, 34, of Bridgewater has an Adair County warrant out for ongoing criminal conduct via unlawful activity, first-degree theft, two counts of third- or subsequent-offense possession of a controlled substance, gathering where controlled substances are used and two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, during the execution of a search warrant at Holmes’ residence, multiple stolen items were recovered. A key to a lock placed on a stolen trailer was also discovered on the nightstand of Holmes’. A key to an all-terrain vehicle locked inside the stolen enclosed trailer was also recovered. The recovered stolen items consisted of an enclosed trailer containing a water heater, chop saw, radial arm saw, household items, range oven and Hotsy pressure washer. Many of these items had been stolen from different locations at different times and belonged to different owners. Total cost was $10,200.

Also, a methamphetamine and marijuana pipe and glass jar with methamphetamine were located in Holmes’ bedroom. Methamphetamine was located in a glass pipe and marijuana was found in Holmes’ room. There were also acetaminophen hydrocodone and cephalexin pills without a valid prescription found within Holmes’ room.

Funke, 50, of Bridgewater has an Adair County warrant out for possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to an Adair County Sheriff report, during the execution of a search warrant, a methamphetamine pipe was located inside the residence of Funke.

James, Toni and Blackford were each being held on $25,000 bond.
