Jim Webb, 76, of Creston died Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston.

A celebration of life memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Chuck Spindler will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to Care Initiative Hospice or to the family. James Weldon Webb, son of Weldon Fredrick Webb and Mildred Louise Newbern, was born Oct. 5, 1940, in Ringgold County. He graduated from Creston High School in 1960.

On Feb. 21, 1970, Jim married Sandy Jo Slorah in Creston. He worked for Creston Purolator and also ran a filling station before being hired by the city of Creston as maintenance engineer, where he worked until an injury in 1990.

Jim was a member of Eagles Lodge in Creston and Des Moines.

Jim is survived by his wife Sandy Webb of Creston; son Kevin Webb of Creston; daughter Deb Webb of West Des Moines; grandson Tanner Webb of Creston; brother Fred (Ann) Webb of Canton, South Dakota; sisters, Donna Smith and Arlene Sweet, both of Yukon, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Pat Leto of Norwalk, Kathy Slorah of Carlisle and Callista Slorah of Indianola; numerous other family, Care Initiatives family and many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Mildred Webb; daughter in-law Amy Webb in 2015; four brothers-in-law, mother and father in-law, Ardelle (Lee) Slorah and sister-in-law.
