East Union FFA competes in state soil judging

AFTON – The East Union FFA Soil Judging Team had a great day at the state soil judging contest in Ames. The team tied for sixth and lost a tiebreaker to bring home the seventh-place honors out of 29 of the top qualifying teams in the state. They received the plaque for the team having the highest combined score on the contest exam, and Mara Weis was ninth high score individually out of 114 contestants.

The team only needed two more points to move into fifth place and qualify for the national contest in May at Oklahoma City. Team members in addition to Weis were Conner Mitchell, Kennady Fry and Brayden Martinez.
