Theola Cameron

Theola Cameron, 86, of Mount Ayr, formerly of Clearfield, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016, at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Clearfield United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Shaffer will officiate the service.  Visitation with family present will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.  Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.  Memorials are to be established in Theola’s name.  Online condolences may be left at www.armstrongfh.com.

Theola Maxine (Monk) Cameron, daughter of Claude Edward Monk and Eva L (Greer) Monk, was born March 4, 1930, on a farm near Clearfield. Theola attended Clearfield Community School graduating in 1947.

On Sept. 13, 1947, she married Lloyd Eugene Cameron in Maryville, Missouri. Theola was a stay-at-home mom and wife until 1960, when they moved from the farm to a house in Clearfield. Theola worked at the post office for a time, Princess Theater in Clearfield and Clearfield School, alongside her husband Lloyd until his death in 1983.

Theola is survived by her children, Tracy (Cindy) of Lenox, Robert (Marie) of Creston, Martin (Shawn) of Diagonal and Kelly (Kyle) Freshour of Lenox; grandchildren, Tori (Wayne) Grantz of DeWitt, Shannon (Matt) Grove of Hillsboro, North Dakota, Chris Cameron of Des Moines, Levi Cameron of Des Moines, Taylor (Bradley) Bentley of Diagonal and Bailey (Dillon) Drake of Diagonal; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Katie Grantz and Quinn Bentley; and siblings, Ronald (Bev) Monk of Marshalltown, Phyllis (Jack) Gourley of Lenox and Ronald (Barbara) Monk of Des Moines.

Theola was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd; parents, Claude and Eva Monk; mother-in-law Ellen Cameron; brothers, Cecil and Darrell Monk and sisters-in-law, Bertha Monk and Lucille Miller.
