Ronald W. Sprague, 87, of Creston died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. The Rev. Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston, with full military honors by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials can be given to Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post 1797. Ronald Wayne Sprague, son of Jay Sprague and Mary (Fudge) Sprague, was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Grant. He attended Prescott High School and graduated with the class of 1946.

On Jan. 21, 1951, Ronald married Doris Catherine Sprague in Kellerton. He enlisted with the United States Army on Feb. 1, 1951. Ronald served in Korea as a clerk of the unit in one of the forwarding hospitals with medics. He was honorably discharged Nov. 10, 1952, and returned to Creston. Ronald and Doris lived in Creston where he worked as the head mechanic at Chevrolet garage and also as an agent at VanMark Corporation in purchasing, retiring in 1991.

He was an active member of Creston Methodist Church, and also a member of Crest City Lodge and VFW color guard.

Ronald is survived by his daughters, Linda (Allan Lee) Tedrow of Boone and Katherine Ann (Kurt Bradley) Nielsen of Adel; son Ronald (Nora Elizabeth) Sprague of Creston; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; one step-grandchild; two step great-grandchildren and sister Mildred Gertsma of Cleveland, Ohio.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris in 2012; brother Carroll Sprague and sisters, Jean Gibson, Thelma Wilson and Rowena Yates.
