Anne Bear, 76, of Creston died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

Celebration of life services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Creston. The Rev. Tony Thurston will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, south of Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with family present from 4 to 8 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. Memorials can be given to the family or Gibson Memorial Library. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Edith Anne Bear, daughter of David Walter Cregeen and Iowa Auriel (Bowman) Cregeen, was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Clearfield. Edith attended Ringgold County country schools, later graduating from Mount Ayr High School in 1958.

On Oct. 11, 1959, Anne married Gary Ray Bear in Arizona. They first lived and worked in the San Diego, California, area. They returned to Iowa. They divorced in 1963.

Anne worked for Iowa State Saving Bank in Creston. She then lived in Ames, where she worked in purchasing for the National Animal Disease Laboratory. In 1966, she returned to Creston and worked for Arnold Kenyon. Anne went on to work at the liquor store in Creston from 1968 to 1975, then managed Greenfield Liquor Store from 1975 to 1987. She retired after working with the Department of Human Services Creston office from 1988 to 2008.

Anne is survived by her sons, Brian (Kari) Davis of Creston and James (Keeley) Davis of Fontanelle; daughters, Rebecca “Becca” Chambers of Creston and Christina “Christy” Davis of Cameron, Missouri; and five grandchildren.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Jewels Chambers.
