Clearview staff is fundraising again

Campaign has grown to four southwest Iowa counties

CLEARFIELD – For the past two years, Clearview Home and Clearview staff of Clearfield has sponsored the Taylor County “Pink Out” to raise funds for Greater Regional Medical Center and CHI Health Corning cancer foundations.

These foundations help to improve the lives of those fighting the battle with all forms of cancer. Clearview Home is expanding its previous fundraising efforts to include three additional counties: Adams, Ringgold and Union. Also this year, they are changing from a “Pink Out” to a “Color Out,” in an effort to support everyone battling cancer, not just those fighting breast cancer.

In 2014, Clearview donated $650 to each foundation; and in 2015, $1,350 was donated to each foundation. This year, with four counties participating, the goal is to split at least $5,000 between the two cancer foundations and a Ringgold County health awareness project. In addition to raising money, they are also hoping to have a massive “Color Out” Nov. 10 and show the state of Iowa how big southwest Iowa’s hearts are.

The idea for the Pink Out came after a coworker was diagnosed with breast cancer.

“We wanted to support her but also make a difference in our community,” said Patty Parrish, owner of Clearview.

“The money we donate is used for whatever each person needs,” said Nicole Seberger, activity director. “It is earmarked for patients, not a specific need.”

The entire staff works to sell shirts within their individual communities. The last two years, Heather Etheridge, a 20-plus year employee of Clearview, has won the honors by outselling everyone on staff.

“Each year as our campaign grows, we become more and more excited and thankful that we live in such a wonderful and caring community. Only in southwest Iowa can showing support for a co-worker grow into a four-county fundraising campaign in two years,” said Seberger. “I cannot wait for Nov. 10 to come so we can see all the shirts being worn all over the four counties.”
