(In first photo) — Creston/Orient-Macksburg head coach Brian Morrison speaks to a room full of supporters at Crestmoor Golf Club on Saturday. The football team’s annual cookout and auction to raise money for the squad garnered a near full house.

The event helped the football team to raise over $11,000, which Morrison claims was at least $4,000 more than last eyar’s event,

“Without the the community support and businesses that donate items, our kids would lose an opportunity to have a great experience,” Morrison said.

The money will go toward meals for the players, portions of the costs for junior high jerseys, new equipment and technology for the team’s use.

“The traditition of this event has been going for over 30 years,” Morrison said.” I want to personally thank the community and school district for continuing to promote it for the benefit of our kids that have committed themselves to the football program which represents our school district anf community in a positive matter.”
