Adair County 4-H youth council gives back

GREENFIELD – Sixteen Adair County 4-H youth council members, three chaperones – HA and Cindy Gross and Karen Downing – along with Deena Wells, youth council adviser from Adair County ISU Extension, delivered pop tabs and provided and prepared a full meal for staff, volunteers and guests at the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.

The majority of the pop tabs were donated by Mrs. Marnin’s Nodaway Valley first-grade class. Youth council members also helped fund and package 5,000 meals at Meals from the Heartland. Youth in Adair County are making a difference and giving back. After their community service was completed, members enjoyed lunch and a fun afternoon in the sun at Adventureland Park.

The Adair County 4-H youth council is made up of high school-aged teens from various school districts in Adair County. Members learn to work as a team to provide mission work, community service, citizenship projects and enhance their leadership skills. Enrollment for next season's youth council is now open. Find an enrollment form at Adair County Extension Office, 154 Public Square, Suite C, in Greenfield or online at www.extension.iastate.edu/adair/ by scrolling down to "Adair County Youth Council." Deadline for applications is Sept. 9. For further information, contact Wells at 641-743-8412 or dwells@iastate.edu.
