Lucy Dillenburg, 84, of Creston died Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Greater Regional Hospice Home – HCI in Creston.

Celebration of life services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 25 and 34 in Creston. The Rev. Mary O'Riley will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Chapel Cemetery, south of Creston. Family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday before the service. Lucille Marie (Bryant) Dillenburg, daughter of Noah Willard Bryant and Maggie Marie (Kay) Bryant, was born Feb. 24, 1932, in Union County.

Lucy graduated from Creston High School in 1950. She went on to receive training as a nurse’s aide and later as a surgical technician.

On June 4, 1950, Lucy married Junior L. Dillenburg in Creston.

They first lived in Adair County. Soon, they moved and farmed south of Creston. Lucy first worked for Leo Avazion at the Coast to Coast Store in Creston. She was primarily a homemaker and farm wife. Lucy worked also as a nurse’s aide for several years, then as a surgical aide for more than 25 years at Greater Community Hospital in Creston. She helped Junior work and raise registered paint horses.

Lucy was a member of Platte Center Presbyterian Church for many years. More recently, she was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Creston.

Lucy is survived by her husband, Junior Dillenburg, of Creston; four daughters, Deborah (husband Patrick) Miller of Fort Worth, Texas; Peggy (husband Greg) Rice and Holly Barto, both of Creston; and Joyce (husband Patrick) Abell of Kearney, Nebraska; son, Alan (wife Donna) Dillenburg, of Johnstown, Ohio; sister, Lottie Riley, of Creston; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Bryant, of Lenox; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy, Becky Dillenburg; sister, Bertie Mellow; three brothers, Bud, Paul and Bob Bryant; and brother-in-law, LeRoy “Bud” Riley.
